Beauty of Altai”
The virginity of nature, the skyscraping peaks,
the Taiga, sandy beaches, ancient barrows, stone-paintings
and a whole lot move-gives you the route though
the mountains of Altai.This tour covers big territory
and gives you an opportunity to enjoy the most
of beautiful and interesting parts of Mountain
Altai.
Maashey
The first of the active parts of the tour is trekking
and it takes place on the South, in so called
Chuya Alps - is a mighty chine with pointed, snow
covered mountain peaks, picturesque glaciers and
crystal-clear lakes, which start rough rivers
with cascades of rapids. This is a wonderful opportunity
to observe practically all climatic zones of Altai:
pine / deciduous forests, which form a narrow
line along the Katun river valley, meadows with
various herbs and flowers, taiga forests, Mongolian-type
dead-wood forests of the Kuray hollow and snow
and ice covered deserts of high mountain peaks.
From Barnaul we drive to the south by a comfortable
minibus to the Altai republic, to the direction
of Mongolia, along ancient trade way - the Chuisky
road. The Chuisky has witnessed many historical
events of different epochs, memories of which
are preserved in numerous stories and legends.
You can see burial mounds there, stone images,
ancient rock drawings - petroglyphs, as well as
historical and archeological monuments, which
bring you centuries back. The following days will
be rich with treks and excursions to glaciers
and crystal-clear mountain lakes and meadows with
various herbs and flowers, on the way you’ll
be surrounded by pure nature, accompanied with
its peace and majesty…
Katun river
The second part of the active tour is rafting
with combination of cultural tour.
The name of the river - Katun, which means "the
princess of Altai" in Altai language. This
main waterway of Altai originates from a mountain
of Belukha - the highest mountain of Siberia (4506m.),
a Gebler glacier. It is the most popular and visited
river of Altai. It is caused by its availability
and at the same time beautiful and unique places
which it passes.
The river is a special world, created by wonder-working
force of a nature, and rafting is a way to test
and understand it. Middle Katun rafting offers
an opportunity to enjoy the views which not possible
to see other way but from the river. The exciting
memories of passing rapids, views of mountains
as well as archeological excursions which bring
you back in times in combination with a good company
will stay in your memory for a long time.
Teletskoe lake
Teletskoe lake is often called “the pearl
of Altai” due to its beauty. The Teletskoe
is located in the narrow hollow of tectonic origin
processed by an ancient glacier. The maximum width
of this lake is about 5 kilometers; its length
is 78 kilometers, its maximum depth is 353 meters.
Teletskoe Lake is located at height of 436 meters
above sea level surrounded by centuries old cedar
taiga. The Teletskoe with its majestic beauty
and mystery has been attracting people from ancient
times - evidence of this is kept in Altai mythology.
You will hear many legends during excursions on
the lake and surroundings, visit waterfall Korbu
(120m.), if wish can find yourself in natural
walk on the horse or enjoy delicious taste of
famous lake fish cooked for dinner.

Itinerary:
| Day 1 |
Arrival
to Barnaul. Meeting in the airport and beginning
of the trip to the Mountain Altai. We will
have a stop in a famous village Srostki
on the way where you can have a look at
local village life-style and try local cuisine
as well as berries and Altai honey. Accommodation
at the camp on the bank of Katun river in
the Mountain Altai.

| Day 2 |
About
9 hours drive trip to Chibit village - it
is about 120 km. away from the border with
Mongolia. Our way goes through the Chuisky
road (an ancient trade rout ). You will
enjoy views of the passes: Seminsky and
broken through the rock Chiket-Aman. Unforgettable
impression you will have from 20-km. part
of the road along the Chuya river where
you will see the deep river canyon surrounded
by picturesque rocks. Accommodation in tents
(120 m. above the sea-level). Dinner by
the camp-fire. From this point all the food
will be cooked on fire by the guides.

| Day 3 |
The first
trekking day. We trek up the Maashey river
valley to the stop by the cedar forest of
the Kara-Kabak river valley. Now we will
have to trek up a pretty steep path, but
after this ascend we will be rewarded by
the beautiful view on the adjacent ridges,
rest and dinner by the camp-fire.

| Day 4 |
Exciting
excursion to the upper Kara-Kabak river,
where you will enjoy picturesque view of
several lakes, meadows and a glacier. Then
we come back to our camp by the forest.

| Day 5 |
Day trekking
to Maashey Lake(2050m. above sea level),
where we set up camp. From here we will
see the highest peaks of North-Chuisky Mountain
Range, such as Karagem (3750m.) and Maashey(
4173m).

| Day 6 |
After
the day that we spend by the lake, we trek
to the Maashey glacier. The path goes along
Maashey Lake, then bends around a moraine
and leads directly to the Maashey glacier,
which is one of the biggest glaciers of
Altai. |
| Day 7 |
We descend to our camp on the
Chuya river bank, where we will be awaited
by the bus. After rest, drive to the confluence
of Katun and Yaloman rivers. Overnight tent
camp on the river bank. |
| Day 8 |
Rafting
up to the mouth of the Ailagush river. 25
km.
Rafting from the confluence of the Katun
and Yaloman river. Overnight in tents on
a sandy river bank. |
| Day 9 |
Rafting 30 km.
Rafting : River Ailagush up to ancient rock
drawings - petroglyths. Overnight camp. |
| Day 10 |
Sightseeing
Sightseeing tours. Excursion to the ancient
rock drawings. The on-foot climbing of the
nearest peak, which rewards you with a marvelous
view of the river. The second half of the
day – Russian banya and rest by the
camp-fire. |
| Day 11 |
Rafting
25 km. + excursions.
Rafting up to Ust-Uba village. After rafting,
drive to the place of overnight camp + cultural
excursions on the way. |
| Day 12 |
Teletskoe lake.
Drive to the Teletskoe lake. Boating on the
lake. Excursion program. |
| Day 13 |
Teletskoe
lake.
Visit to Korbu waterfall(120m.). Trip to
the opposite site of the lake. In the evening
dinner by the lake. |
| Day 14 |
Drive to Barnaul. City walk.
Overnigh in the hotel. |
| Day 15 |
Fly back home. |
